My journey into counseling began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas State University, followed by a master’s degree in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. I've had the privilege of working in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment, and nonprofit organizations aiding victims of abuse.
Over the years, I've developed a passion for supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, religious trauma, intimacy/marital issues, and borderline personality disorder. Certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I've also undergone extensive training in EMDR, with a focus on adolescent EMDR. In my practice, I encourage clients to embrace their complexities and refrain from labeling aspects of themselves as strictly "good" or "bad." Even our most challenging traits often stem from experiences of trauma, grief, rejection, and pain—and they deserve compassion and understanding.
I chose the path of counseling because I believe in creating safe, nurturing spaces where individuals can openly discuss their stresses and challenges, free from judgment. At Sage Counseling, I'm committed to walking alongside you on your healing journey, guiding you toward living authentically well. My practice welcomes individuals from all walks of life, beliefs, sexual orientations, and ages, and I'm eager to support you in finding your path forward.
On a lighter note, outside of counseling, you'll often find me cherishing moments with my two sons and husband, hitting the lanes at bowling league, tending to my ever-growing collection of indoor plants, and showering our therapy dog, Hope, with love and affection.
